I'd like to share with you my policy for reviews on my blog and my youtube videos. Even though I am not legally bound by the FTC law here in Canada, I think its' fair to let you all know this so there will not be any confusion. Its seems rather unfair that there will still be people out there that will not believe what you say is true (even if you are honest with yourself) and it makes it very tough on the reviewer. Please understand that even if a person is sponsored, they can still love a product...it would be unreasonable to say that you must HATE a product just because it was sent to you.
On Products & Reviews
- Products sponsored by a company will be stated as so. They will be rated on aspects that are good along with aspects that may be problematic. It is my personal goal that these reviews be honest based on product performance and will be 100% accurate and honest to my own experience because that is what I look for when I read other people's reviews. Compensated reviews will follow the same policy, I reserve the right to comment on both the pros and cons in each review as I see fit. All compensated reviews will be labeled as "special feature".
- Regardless of the circumstances I will never allow to be compensated just to feature a product in my video if I don't see it as being worthy for you to try out. A product is unlikely to have 100% positive rating but it should have enough merits to be worthwhile being shown to you.
- Partial proceeds from partnerships and other compensation will go towards purchases for new products; products that I find interesting and worthwhile to share with you all. It will also go towards funding for prizes and giveaways! I take great pride in being thorough, taking clear product pictures and including ingredients when possible but I hope you understand this is very time consuming. But most importantly, it will go towards saving up for upgrading to better equipment and facilities so you can get better videos! [I can really use a good camcorder right now so I can make tutorials for you guys.]
On my photos
- Product swatches, including immediate before/after photos will never be photoshoped or edited. I want you to see the product clearly. In some circumstances, I will adjust exposure/tone if I feel it will better reflect the true colour of the product. You will always have a clear swatch for reference.
- I reserve the right to edit certain final/finished photos in Demos or Tutorials for aesthetic purposes. Personal blog photos will be left to my discretion.
Thank you for reading.
Have a great day!
