It couldn't have been a more perfect warm weather morning, set at the historic Rosewood Hotel Georgia, I was kindly invited to attend a spring beauty preview courtesy of ACI Brands Beauty. Filled with sweet treats and flowers the room was transformed with beauty stations showcasing up and coming spring / summer beauty products.
Calling out to me with its bright colours and eye catching sparkles, Stila has long been on my mind but by some reason one that I've actually never tried before. Perhaps it was the lack of familiarity with the line as a whole but I was rather surprised by the great mix of interesting and colourful products on show. A few things to note are the newer CC Creams which come in 6 shade selections and offer a smooth skin like medium coverage as well as their incredible looking Magnificent Metal Foil Shadows which transforms into a liquid metal look on the lids.
Cargo dressed the table with it's iconic range of tin blushers but also showed some new items such as their limited edition Suited to a Tea Palette filled with unexpected cream shadows in both satin and shimmer finishes. Forever tweaking with my eye brows, I was instantly drawn to the Brow Duos (available in 3 shades) which housed a colour corresponding brow and powder combination. For lip lovers out there, the Cargo Essential Lip Gloss impresses with a wide shade selection of on trend nudes and wearable brights all with a very smooth feel and great colour payoff.
As the leading brand in drugstore false lashes, Ardell showcased a few special collections each with its own distinct look. The Curvy Series gives yes a flirtatious flare with tapered designs, the Corset Series features a criss cross look for extra volume and the Spiky Series gives you drama and definition.
Might I add that as the lash addict that I am, I tried on a pair of the Ardell Spikey #505 on top of the lashes I was already wearing to the event. Here's the look with two full strips of lashes doubled up.
Always showing up as best dressed to an event, Anna Sui displayed a collection of some limited edition products including her famous powders in a travel compact version and her iconic loose boxed powder. The compact allows you to carry loose powder for lightweight touch ups and has an ingenious silicone cover design with slits which will only dispense powder when you press the puff into the screen thus opening the holes.
It was then off to the upstairs room which was transformed into a little nail bar, packed with polishes from Seche Vite and Ceramic Glaze to get my nails done. Now admittedly I am shamefully incompetent at doing my own nails (but hey, I'm practicing!) so I will take every chance to get them painted by somebody else. To go with my bright royal blue sweater that day, my nail artist Rose recommended a bright orange from the new Ceramic Glaze Neon Matte Collection called I'm on Island Time topped off with white polka dots and the must have Seche Vite Quick Drying Top Coat.
With a camera full of photographs, pretty painted nails and a matching polka dotted Baggu tote filled with beauty goodies to try, I skipped my way out of the hotel and into the downtown sunshine. I would have liked to grab a bit of those delicious looking sandwiches on my way out but I was headed down the street into ramen territory but that's for another post and another time. Looks like it will be a swatchful month up ahead, there's definitely some unexpected gems to share.
