Beauty Guide | Natural oils / Jojoba, Macadamia, Sweet Almond, Rosehip

Pure natural oils have been a sector of beauty care I've always been intrigued by, although I don't think I'll ever be able to go fully natural I do tend to gravitate towards beauty products with high concentrations of plant and oil extracts. It's been a few months since my iherb haul where I purchased 4 highly raved oils to try so here are my thoughts, experiences and a bit of first timer advice.

Below I've included close up photos of the bottles and what each oil looks like in the palm of my hand along with a few summarizing points and a direct link to the iherb listing. Do note that sometimes these will go on sale and sometimes they will be sold out so availability may vary.

Jojoba Oil-swatch

JOJOBA OIL:: Highly regarded for acne-prone skin, anti-bacterial, light liquid consistency, takes longer to absorb than others, negligible scent.

Sweet Almond Oil-swatch

SWEET ALMOND OIL:: Very mild and soothing oil, lightweight and easy to towel off if used for cleansing, seems to sooth redness and sensitivity, easy to use for all skintypes.
Find it here: Now Foods Sweet Almond Oil

RoseHip Oil-swatch

ROSEHIP OIL:: Rich and dense oil (mine is mixed with Vit E or else it oxidizes easily), quite a distinctive scent, repairing and deeply hydrating, best left for wintertime or those with very dry skin or to be used in localized facial areas.
Find it here: Aura Cacia Organic Rosehip Oil with Vit. E

Macadamia Oil-swatch

MACADAMIA OIL:: Luxuriously rich with a nutty scent, smooth and hydrating but not overwhelmingly heavy, easy to blend into facial creams for an added boost, great around the eyes to moisturize and soften dry patches.
Find it here: Aura Cacia Organic Macadamia Oil

A few general tips::
Do remember that these 100% natural oils are preservative free meaning that do not keep as long as other products once opened. Try to keep them in a cool, dry place or even the fridge to maintain their freshness. I'd also suggest that you play around with mixing the oils together in various combinations (a separate uv filtered dropper bottle would be great for this) or adding some into your per-existing skin, hair and body products which I find helps the oils absorb better than using them solo. If you want to get fancy, these can also work as carrier oils bases for adding other essential oils. Lastly, remember to start off with just a few drops because boy did I make a big mistake the first few tries.

** This post contains an iHerb rewards code that I was given upon my introduction as a first time customer. When used by other first time customers, I gain rewards points which can be redeemed for my own next purchase for a limited time. This "cash back" reward come from iHerb's own marketing budget, not from your order.

  1. Thanks for the review on this product! I always love using trying new skincare products and would also be welcome to share some with others! Do you happen to know if there are also any other skin care products that could help to permanently remove freckles?

  2. Great post! I love rosehip oil in the winter and for treating my eczema :)

  3. Awesome post! I have used Jojoba oil as my main moisturizer for years now and I love it. It's hydrating and moisturizing without being too heavy. I also really enjoy grape seed oil as well for the more humid or hotter weather, I prefer the grape seed over the jojoba. It's a tad bit lighter and absorbs a bit faster, but still packs the same hydrating punch as jojoba. ^___^b

  4. Can you review the Seventh Generation Serum Boosts? Which one would be best for combo skin in mid-twenties to get that glowing, smooth skin? These all sound good...

  5. I like almond oil more than jojoba oil. Because of its numberless uses and benefits. Your reviews are always helping ones. You said everything truly, which makes me addicted to your reviews ans suggestions. I am talking about the benefits of almond oil. check here the benefits of this outstanding natural product

Thanks for reading. Leave me some love ;)
